How Far I'll Go

 Blue Mai Tai

This post is our thank you to one Pavel Kolev, the developer of Pixelborn, who was forced to take down the project this week following pressure from our Mouse overlord.

So many of us would not have gotten so entrenched in Lorcana if not for your hard work. I (Jon) started playing Lorcana back during the First Chapter, when almost nobody could reliably obtain any product and play more than starter decks in paper. It was Pixelborn that showed me the joy of the game before it was even released, and got me to introduce it to my wife who then also fell in love with it. Without your application, it's very likely that we wouldn't be playing Lorcana at all these days and that this blog would not exist.

You told us that your favorite Disney character was Moana, and have talked about your excitement for the upcoming sequel. We thought long and hard about how to best embody this love in a the form of a drink, and settled on How Far I'll Go. It's both the most iconic song from the movie, and the perfect way to describe all that you have done for this game. When you started your project, you couldn't possibly have imagined how far you'd go, how wide of a reach it would have, and the sheer number of people that would come to rely on it. Yet here we are today, a young but strong gaming community, thanks in no small part to what you created.

We've interpreted How Far I'll Go as a tropical Mai Tai, with the twist of adding blue curaçao. While this has no significant impact on the drink's flavor profile, as curaçao remains an orange liqueur, the blue coloring pays homage to both the card's ink color and the vibrant sea itself.

Thank you Pavel for all your contributions to the Lorcana community. Cheers to you.

Recipe
1.5 oz dark rum
1.5 oz pineapple juice
1.5 oz orange juice
1/2 oz grenadine
1/3 oz blue curaçao

Fill a glass with ice, rum, and both juices, and stir to combine. Slowly pour grenadine down the side of the glass to settle at the bottom. Pour the curaçao over the back of a spoon to layer on top of the drink. Garnish with tropical fruit and a cute little umbrella.
