Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard

(Blackcurrant Bee's Knees)

First off our apologies for being gone so long. It's been a busy summer what with travel, family visiting, and (most importantly) Set Championships all month! But we're back now with the promise of a delicious drink with plenty more to come.

For today's post, we're featuring the absolute best card art in the entire game of Lorcana: Winnie the Pooh - Hunny Wizard. Just look at him - sitting on his summoned honey sphere all zen and majestic. There will always be discourse in Lorcana but one thing is for certain: everyone loves the Hunny Wizard.

We've interpreted this magical bear as a Bee's Knees, a classic cocktail of gin, lemon, and (of course) honey. It's a fresh summery cocktail, and as we are indeed at the height of summer, we encourage you to try it out on the next hot day.

The combination of fresh lemon and honey results in a soothing but cool profile. To get even more citrus florals into the drink, we've gone with an orange blossom honey - although plain honey would work perfectly fine. As a twist, however, we used blackcurrant honey gin from Canterbury Distillers instead of a standard dry gin. We picked this bottle up last Christmas on our visit to South England, where we fell in love with its unique flavor. The addition of blackcurrant not only evokes Pooh's Amethyst color identity, but adds a subtle fruity note to the drink. Together, the resulting product absolutely shines like sweet golden honey.

Ingredients
2 oz Canterbury Blackcurrant and Honey Gin
3/4 oz orange blossom honey syrup
1/2 oz fresh lemon juice

Combine all ingredients with ice and shake. Pour over ice or into a chilled coupe glass. Garnish with a lemon peel. Can substitute 1.5 oz regular dry gin plus 1/2 oz crème de cassis as an alternative blackcurrant flavor.

Orange Blossom Honey Syrup
Combine equal parts orange blossom honey and water. Heat while stirring to dissolve honey. Plain honey plus orange zest can be substituted for orange blossom honey.
