(Classic Aviation)
Beauty and the Beast is one of our favorite Disney films, and it is objectively one of the best Disney movies of all time. The animation of the ballroom scene was revolutionary for its time, and it is the first film to feature a Disney Princess with (shocking) agency and self-sufficiency. Despite being a Floodborn card, Beast - Tragic Hero evokes an actual scene from the film. It represents a turning point for the Beast, as he watches Belle ride away to tend to her father after releasing her from her imprisonment. It is here that the character transitions from being her antagonistic captor to a heroic role through self-sacrifice and empathy.
What better way to depict this version of Beast than with a cloudy Aviation? Nestled in the snow, the violet tones evoke not just the Tragic Hero artwork but the character's general mood as he watches Belle depart for what he believes is the final time. the. A Luxardo cherry seated at the bottom of the drink evokes the iconic rose from the film as its petals fall away slowly in its glass case.
Recipe
2 oz Dry Gin
1/2 oz Luxardo liqueur
1/4 oz Creme de Violette
1/2 oz Fresh Lemon Juice
Luxardo Maraschino Cherries
Place a Luxardo Cherry at the bottom of a Nick and Nora or Coupe glass. Combine all liquid ingredients in a shaker and shake vigorously with ice. Double strain into the glass, being careful to avoid pouring directly over the cherry to not disturb the syrup around it. Garnish with a twist of lemon.
